KFC Canada Once Created a Menu That Could Only Be Paid with Bitcoin

KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) once created a menu item that could only be paid with Bitcoin, called the Bitcoin Bucket, back in 2018. Interestingly, this menu sold out within just one hour after its launch.

“KFC Canada presents #BitcoinBucket. Of course, we don’t really know what Bitcoin is or how it works, but that won’t stop you from enjoying delicious chicken,” said KFC on its X account on Friday, January 12, 2018.

Customers could get 10 pieces of original recipe chicken, fried waffles, sides, sauces, and 2 dipping sauces for US$20 paid in Bitcoin. The fried chicken franchise even offered delivery to customers.

This initiative became a world first in the food and beverage industry. While some franchise locations from other restaurant chains had accepted Bitcoin as payment, this KFC project marked the first time a parent company accepted digital currency.
